Black Cinematheque Dallas will hold "An Evening of Film and Poetry" this Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. at the South Dallas Cultural Center.
Co-sponsored by Community of One and The Third Eye, this event is part of the 13th Annual Black Men's Film Festival Celebrating the Legacy of Malcolm X (Self Respect. Self Determination. Self Defense).
Two films will be shown during the program: Ordinary People (produced by New York filmmaker Gerald Leavell) is described as "a passionate and intriguing portrait of a young urban family. The film causes the audience to question/analyze the roles of responsibility and accountability in a relationship, as well as the affects that relationship has on others in the community."
The second film, Untitled, was made by Dallas filmmaker Dave Herman.
Both Herman and Leavell will be in attendance to share their cinematic storytelling and their poetry.
