Texas Music Mini-Conference
- When: Saturday, May 30, 2009, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Where: J. Erik Jonsson Central Library (Dallas Public Library), 1515 Young Street, Dallas
- Cost: Free
- Age limit: All ages
On Saturday, May 30 beginning at 9 a.m., the Dallas Public Library (at the J. Erik Jonsson downtown location) will host an all-day conference on the history of Texas music, replete with panel discussions, lectures and film screenings.
Included in the mix will be a couple of locally-produced films: When Funk Was King: the South Dallas Pop Festival and Teen-A-Go-Go.
The Funk screening will be introduced by Roger Boykin and Anne Bothwell, while Teen-A-Go-Go, documenting the '60's scene in North Texas, will be hosted by Mark Nobles and William Williams.
Discussion and lecture topics (with persenter in parentheses) include:
