Newly elected Richardson City Council members speak after taking oaths of office
On Monday, the Richardson City Council had its bi-annual canvassing and swearing in of newly elected members. We have video of incoming Council members Mark Solomon, Bob Macy, and Amir Omar giving their traditional incoming words to the crowd in attendance.
Mark Solomon said he looked forward to serving and making Richardson an even greater place. Solomon also recounted that firefighters and paramedics from Richardson Station 4 saved him when he had a heart attack about 7 years ago.
Bob Macy said he strongly believes in stewardship. He complemented the city staff and said Bill Keffler hasn't hired any "lemons."
Amir Omar thanked his children for putting up with him. He especially noted that during the past few weeks he spent more time on FaceBook than his kids. He also acknowledged Dennis Stewart for his council work and police work. Omar said, "He served honorably and in a way so few people are willing to do." He added that "Decades of visionary leaders have helped us build the city we live in today."
The videos are posted below. Due the crowd and conditions some of the videos might be shaky. We apologize for this.
