Concert preview: Redefine at the Boiler Room in Denton (May 22)
Friday is part one of an all-Denton weekend at the Boiler Room. The lineup includes Redefine, Housefire, and Moving Atlas (actually from Dallas), all taking the stage. The headlining band, Redefine, is going to put on a hell of a show. They have a fairly steady following around Denton as well as Dallas and have been making some real strides in their bid to become the top dog in the Denton hard rock scene. I really like these guys, they almost sound like a slower and more polished version of Anthrax, but keep the same excitement and intensity as the New Yorkers do. According to the band's MySpace page, they will be back in the studio recording their second full length album very shortly. Expect to hear a little bit of a sample of what to expect on that recording when they take the stage on Friday.
The most intriguing part of the night however, is going to be the debut of Housefire. According to the band's MySpace page, they are "a new band featuring former and current member of Insight, Give, The Raven Charter, and Revolte." Intriguing eh?

Thank you Josh, this write up rules...as does your support for the local scene. Let me know if you are coming to the show, I'll make sure you are on the list.
Cheers!

I find it hard to believe that Redefine is taking over the Denton hard rock scene judging from the fact that there weren't very many people sticking around to see them. However the show was taken over by Moving Atlas who opened up the show with a great performance playing songs from there Elephant Gun Ep and a few new ones that will be featured on there upcoming album that they just finished recording and features some talent from members of other local bands. Housefire packed the house! There hard rock, screamo really rocked the crowd, there was a mosh pit that almost broke out. I think they will soon be the next big hard rock act in Denton. I know they are playing a show with another great Denton band The Raven Charter at the Boiler Room on June 27th.
