Byron Nelson Championship recap: Thursday
Ken Duke and James Nitties share top billing on the leaderboard after the opening round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship on Thursday.
Duke opened up the round a little rough, but turned the corner at the ninth hole with a nine-iron 15-foot birdie. Nitties sat at one-under for most of the round, but claiming to relax when he realized how badly the rest of the field was doing, he found himself some more birdies and finished the day at five-under 65 with Duke.
Brad Adamonis, Scott McCarron, Charles Howell III, and former Masters champion Mike Weir are all tied for third place at four-under.
Adam Scott, this tourney's defending champion, has had a disappointing last several starts and sits in 74th place at one-over 71.
