FILM - Q Cinema opens 11th annual festival of queer film in Fort Worth Thursday

It’s been 10 years since Todd Camp, the former film critic for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, came up with Cowtown’s gay and lesbian film festival, Q Cinema — beating Dallas’ version by several months. For its 11th season, the collection of international film includes features, shorts and even live performances — Steven Jay Crabtree will perform his live comedy cabaret “Dysfunction Divas” following the screening of the short film Martini the Movie in which he stars as one of his characters. The festival opens on Thursday with the screening of Fruit Fly.

Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth. May 28–31. Visit Qcinema.org for complete schedule of events.

FASHION - Gay underwear designer Andrew Christian visits Dallas Saturday

You gotta love a gay man who makes a living — quite a good one — making men look hot in as few clothes as possible. Underwear designer Andrew Christian is known for his scanty briefs, and you can thank him in person twice this Saturday: First at an in-store meet-and-greet at Union Jack, then at a late-night fashion show at Rush.

Union Jack, 3920 Cedar Springs Road, May 23, 1–3 p.m. Rush, 3903 Lemmon Ave., May 23 at 10 p.m.

STAGE - Mark-Brian Sonna Productions goes to the Garden of Eden with a sexy, scandalous Adam & Eve

Everyone knows the serpent in the Garden of Eden seduced Eve… or did he? What if the most famous snake was actually a man, and he was really seducing… well, you’ll have to see it to know. Mark-Brian Sonna once again goes sexy and politically incorrect with his latest original production, Adam & Eve in the Garden of Delights, or Love. With nudity and a saucy attitude, this comedy is for mature audiences only.

Stone Cottage Theatre at Addison Theatre Center. May 28–June 13. Thursdays–Saturdays at 8 p.m., June 6 matinee at 2:30 p.m. $18–$21. 214-477-4942. MBSProductions.net.

MUSIC - Austin singer Suzanna Choffel performs at Jack’s Backyard Friday

As an Austin musician, Suzanna Choffel has the kind of indie cred you’d probably expect: a lyrical style that’s both smoky and funky that has brought her comparisons from Feist to Duffy to Adele. The singer-songwriter brings her unique urban rhythms to Jack’s Backyard in Oak Cliff on Friday for a free concert.
