Grapevine rebuffed on resolution to be named Christmas Capital of Texas
With sugar plums dancing through their minds and clogging up their ability to, you know, argue about useful resolutions and bills, lawmakers wasted their time and our tax dollars debating the legitimacy of naming Grapevine the Christmas Capital of Texas. Representative Vicki Truitt introduced the resolution claiming that Grapevine deserves the title for its more than 1,400 Christmas events each year. Arlington and a number of other cities, worried about losing tourism dollars, balked at the idea.
The resolution was just one in a pile of mostly meaningless crap brought up to apparently delay voter ID discussion.
