Thursday
The posthumous release of Carter Albrecht's Jesus is Alive...and Living in London occurs this Thursday at the Granada Theater. Sorta, The Slack, and Salim Nourallah, friends and musical contemporaries of Albrecht's, will perform his songs.
While you're in the area, get with the funk and check out the Josh Weathers Band and Scott McCurry down the street at the Cavern.
Friday
Becky Middleton, host of Songwriters in the Round on Mondays at Opening Bell Coffee, is releasing her first full-length debut, No Trouble. Also performing with her at Prophet Bar will be Idol recording artist The O's and Salim Nourallah, who recorded Middleton's album.
To infuse a little rap and hip-hop into your Friday night, head down to the Green Elephant where you can catch Headkrack, AwkQuarius and others.
Saturday
Opening Bell Coffee (at the Mosaic) will host several hours of local music on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. Bands on the lineup include The Baptist Generals, Mom, and the Chameleon Chamber Group.
More local music stories
Of course, if you planned ahead, the big show of the day is down at the Superpages.com Center. No Doubt's frontwoman, Gwen Stefani, was quoted recently as saying that the group decided to get back together to record a new album. But, fresh off a new kid and feeling shut in the studio, Stefani decided she wanted to hit the road. Supporting No Doubt is Paramore, whose single from the Twilight soundtrack, "Decode," is getting massive radio play at the moment.
Sunday
It's Sunday and B.B. King is in town. Where the heck else would you be?
