Turtle Creek Chorale to end season with Celebrate America!
The Turtle Creek Chorale concludes its 29th season with Celebrate America! on Thursday, June 25 at 8:00PM in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center with special guests the United States Army Chorus from Washington, D.C. and the Dallas Wind Symphony.
Honorary co-chairs for this event are Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Ambassador Nancy Brinker.
The United States Army Chorus was established in 1956 as the vocal counterpart of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” and is one of the nation’s only professional, all-male choruses. The Army Chorus performs often at the White House and in support of functions hosted by the State Department and Department of Defense. The Chorus is a standard feature at events for each presidential inaugural, and has been featured in official ceremonies and at special events at the U.S. Capitol.
The Turtle Creek Chorale will also partner with the USO Dallas/Fort Worth to honor current and past military and their families. Special recognition will be given at this event to the volunteers who support the daily operations of the USO Rest and Recuperation flight at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Concert repertoire selections include: Randall Thompson’s "The Testament of Freedom", the premiere of David Conte’s "An Exhortation" - the first musical setting of President Barack Obama’s words, "Armed Service Medley," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."
This concert is presented as part of the 29th season of the Turtle Creek Chorale. Tickets range from $30.00 to $80.00 and are available by calling (877) SING-TCC or online at www.turtlecreek.org.
