Arlington council member to chair Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition
Arlington City Council member Kathryn Wilemon has been appointed chairperson of the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition (TRTC).
TRTC is broad-based, non-profit group committed to finding solutions to the mobility challenges facing the western half of the DFW area. Their goal is to spur dialogue about the region’s mobility needs for better roadways, commuter rail, and freight rail. Wilemon replaces outgoing chairperson Ken Shetter, the mayor of Burleson.
“As chair of the TRTC, I will emphasize how our work touches on so many different aspects of transportation such as clean air, traffic congestion reduction, and freight movement,” Wilemon said. “We are advocates for the citizens of this region on issues that are vitally important to all of us, and we will continue to move forward together, unified in our goals.”
Wilemon has been a member of the TRTC since its inception in 2003. She was first elected to the City Council in May 2003 and represents Council District 4. This district is bound by I-20 on the south, portions of Matlock Road, Fielder Road, and Bowen Road on the east, Lake Arlington on the west, and I-30 on the north.
