Upcoming Denton concerts - November 4-7
Sugar and Gold -- Wednesday, November 4 at The Boiler Room
The Boiler Room kicks off their live music this week with a bang. The electro-indie pop group Sugar and Gold return to Denton for the first time since their outstanding performance earlier this year at NX35. Hailing from San Francisco, Sugar and Gold is an entertaining and unique group that will have you up and out of your seat in no time. If their performance at North By was any indication, the show is going to be packed.
Also playing is the legendary Denton funk group Backside Pick who always bring a party to the stage. They are one of the most hard working bands in town and a treat to see live.
Opening the show is Dirty Little Mouth who recently headlined My Denton Music's latest party at Dan's Silver Leaf. Get to the show early. This band is more than worth checking out!!
Here is a taste of the headliners:
Atlas Sound -- Saturday, November 7 at Hailey's
Atlas Sound in the solo project of Bradford Cox, the lead singer of one of my favorite bands out right now, Deerhunter. From Atlanta, Ga., Cox released an album under the Atlas Sound guise entitled Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Can Not Feel to mostly positive reviews. It has a more experimental and sort of shoe gaze sound than Deerhunter, but the quality of music is the same.
Absolutely worth heading out to see this show, especially if you are even the slightest fan of Deerhunter of shoe gaze rock. Also playing is a wonderful band from the UK called Broadcast as well as another native Georgian group, The Selmanaires.
Enjoy Atlas Sound:
Spoonfed Tribe -- Saturday, November 7 at Dan's Silver Leaf
I can't help but get excited every time this band comes to town. I have seen them about a million times in all sorts of venues, but every single time is like a brand new experience. Spoonfed Tribe is a band that I am both thrilled and proud to say are from the DFW metroplex. They represent everything a great band should be. They are fantastic to watch, and trust me they should be watched live to understand the greatness of this band. They have an incredible over-the-top sound and performance. And from the limited contact I have personally had with the band members, combined with the stories I have heard about them, they are all incredibly nice folks.
If you are looking for a sure thing on Saturday night, look no further. Perhaps no other band can give you more of a guaranteed good time than Spoonfed Tribe.
