Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth, November 5-8
Thursday
We love what Mark from The Local Edge is doing to bring DFW artists to the spotlight -- true to the legacy of what The Edge once was, and to what so many scenesters are pulling for Deep Ellum to be once again. The Local Edgefest competition moves to Thursdays this week. They will be running until April while fans vote their favorite North Texas band to earn a spot at Edgefest 2010. (I quite honestly think there should be more than one local rock act representing.) This week: The Orbans, Chatterton, and Shock of Pleasure.

You know me, I go bonkers over all things New Orleans. You can imagine my delight to hear that funk/rock/hip-hop Galactic (featuring the incomparable Stanton Moore on drums) will be hitting the Granada this weekend. Not to mention they're bring Mike Dillon's Go Go Jungle. (You have no idea how good this show is going to be. This is the Dirty South at its finest, folks.) Fort Worth's Josh Weathers Band will kick off the night, true to form in showing up on some of the hottest bill's we've seen this fall.
Sunday
Snoop Dogg / Method Man / Redman
| When: | Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, 7 p.m. |
| Where: | House of Blues, 2200 North Lamar Street, Dallas |

Need to simmer down after a crazy weekend? I've got a couple ideas, one involves Snoop Dogg at House of Blues. The other is attempting to get through this article without using the phrase "izzle."

For a city the size of Dallas, you've gotten rather short and selective in your inclusions of "Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth, November 5-8"?

Rick, that's by no means all the events. These are just some favorite picks among the hundreds here:
