Association of Corporate Counsel names Dallas-Fort Worth Group as National Chapter of the Year
DALLAS The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has been named the 2009 medium-sized Chapter of the Year.
The award, presented last month during ACC’s annual meeting in Boston, recognizes ACC chapters that demonstrate commitment to member services and contributions to ACC and the legal community. The medium-sized chapter category includes groups ranging from 251 to 750 members.
In presenting the award, ACC President Frederick J. Krebs said the DFW Chapter “sets a standard of excellence, and provides outstanding benefits and services to its members.” Among the highlights pointed out by ACC are the DFW Chapter’s outstanding networking opportunities, exemplary continuing legal education programs, and excellent communication with members to successfully serve their needs.
The DFW Chapter’s accomplishments include growing the chapter more than 55% over the past five years and providing public interest scholarships for law students from three North Texas law schools. The DFW Chapter also hosted more that 21 successful training and social events during the award evaluation period, including several events on alternative fee arrangements with law firms, a major emphasis of ACC and its Value Challenge.
Accepting the award on behalf of the DFW Chapter was Immediate Past President Marcia Stuart Ceplecha of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, along with current President Todd Martin of Bank of America.
“This award is the culmination of years of focused leadership by the outstanding in-house counsel who volunteer with the chapter,” says Ceplecha. “Our goal is to consistently deliver value to our members and their companies, and maintain the DFW Chapter’s place as one of ACC’s finest.”
“We look forward to growing the chapter to even higher levels by serving the community as the face and advocate of in-house counsel,” says Martin.
ACC is the world’s largest in-house bar association with more than 25,000 members in 70 countries.
