Four Seasons Market debuts on Saturday at Firewheel Town Center in Garland
GARLAND The Four Seasons Market, a new market featuring a wide variety of locally produced foods and crafts, gets underway Saturday at the park in the Firewheel Town Center in Garland.
The market, which will be held every Saturday year-round from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is the brainchild of Vincent Hirth and Florine Bowman, owners of Florine Bowman Pastries, and is modeled after successful festivals the couple ran in France some 12 years ago.
For the kick-off event, Chef David Gilbert, known for his focus on using local foods on his menus, will host a free walking and shopping tour of the local food vendors beginning at 10 a.m.
Chef Gilbert, named a Rising Star Chef in 2007 and noted for a cuisine that "elevates lowbrow ingredients," will follow the tour with a quick cooking demonstration on how to combine the fresh ingredients he finds into a meal.
"Four Seasons Market will replicate a European-style market where you can not only meet local farmers, artisanal food producers, and craftsmen, but sample and purchase their products in a colorful, family-friendly venue," said Hirth.
More than 30 local vendors have signed up to participate. Firewheel Town Center is just northeast of the George Bush Freeway and Route 78 in Garland. For more information, visit the website.
