PostSecret Project creator Frank Warren to speak at UT Arlington

ARLINGTON — Author Frank Warren, creator of the blog phenomenon PostSecret Project, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the University of Texas at Arlington's E.H. Hereford University Center.

Warren's blog features a collection of highly personal and artfully decorated postcards mailed anonymously from around the world, displaying the mailers' innermost secrets. Warren will take part in a multi-media presentation, a question-and-answer session, and book signing.

The PostSecret blog is one of the most popular and has been featured prominently in USA Today, on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, CBC, NPR, and FOX News. In 2009, Forbes listed Warren as the fourth most influential person on the Internet.

Warren writes on postsecret.blogspot.com that his first trip to Paris, France, in December 2003 led him to the PostSecret Project when he bought three postcards and had a dream that the postcards had been altered with messages written on their backs. Warren said he woke up and attempted to recreate how the postcards appeared in his dream.

Warren now accepts 4-by-6-inch postcards made out of any mailable material. Mailers can share two or more secrets by putting the complete secret and image on one side of the postcard.

Recently, the PostSecret Web site received its 250 millionth hit and was named Weblog of the Year at the Seventh Annual Weblog Awards.

Warren has released several books based on the project, including The New York Times best seller, "PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives."

Tickets are available online at www.utatickets.com or from Student Activities, Room B-140, at the University Center. Tickets are $5 for UT Arlington students, $10 for faculty, staff and alumni association members and $20 for the general public.

The event is part of Warren's fall tour with visits to universities in Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Mexico.
