BODIES…The Exhibition to open in West End in Dallas on November 21
DALLAS Premier Exhibitions, Inc. announced today that BODIES…The Exhibition will open on Saturday, November 21, at the West End Marketplace in Dallas’ historic West End. This will be the first visit to Texas by this international show which is currently receiving worldwide acclaim and attracting nearly 15 million visitors from cities including New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas, London, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and more. The exhibition will remain in Dallas through April 2010.
Both captivating and edifying, BODIES...The Exhibition unveils the many complex systems of organs and tissues that drive every aspect of our daily lives and unite us all as humans. Featuring more than 250 real human specimens consisting of whole-bodies and individual organs that have been meticulously dissected and preserved through an innovative process, BODIES...The Exhibition will enlighten, empower, fascinate, and inspire.
BODIES...The Exhibition offers an amazing look into the human body. Unlike biology and anatomy models and diagrams, at BODIES visitors are able to peer at real 3-Dimensional human bodies that have been preserved for the exhibition. It is a field trip destination like no other. The exhibition allows people of all ages access to sights and knowledge normally reserved only for medical professionals. Take a look inside the human self to better understand how one’s intricate and captivating body works and how people can be more informed about their own health.
The exhibition provides visitors an up-close look inside the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, and other systems of the human body. Many of the whole body specimens are dissected in vivid athletic poses, allowing the visitor to relate to everyday activities. In addition, authentic human specimens illustrate the damage caused to organs by over-eating and lack of exercise. A healthy lung is featured next to a black lung ravaged by smoking in a vivid comparison more powerful than any textbook image.
The human body specimens in the exhibition are preserved through a revolutionary technique called polymer preservation. In this process, human tissue is permanently preserved using liquid silicone rubber that is treated and hardened. The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the cellular level, showcasing the complexity of the body's many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and organs.
Tickets are now on sale and are available at www.bodiestickets.com.Source: BODIES...The Exhibition

This would have been a great draw had it opened during HALLOWEEN, but now is also a great time to see it. DON'T FORGET the HUGE and LOUD military fly-overs in downtown Dallas this Wednesday at 11:00am for Veterans Day!!!

It's not a "repackaged" BodyWorlds. It's a shameless knockoff of the original. The real BodyWorlds is by Gunther Von Hagens , the inventor of the "plastination" process used to preserve the bodies. He has a unique artistic vision -- the difference between the original and the various copycats is like the difference between Michelangelo's "David" and something from the bargain bin at New Fine Arts.
You can tell by the billboards that this isn't going to be nearly as awe-inspiring as the real thing. I just hope that the arrival of the wannabe plastinators doesn't keep his original exhibition from returning to Dallas. I'm hopeful, though, because Von Hagens himself has argued for the "democratization" of anatomy. He doesn't get upset with the would-be competitors except when they copy his poses (again, like Larry Flint posing as Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man).

A lot of people are going to confuse this with BodyWorlds and are going to go. My girlfriend told me BodyWorlds was returning and then I saw this. If she got them confused, I'm sure the rest of Dallas will.
