The “Festival del Tamal” celebrates the family, stories, relationships, values, and mystery of a tradition that is forever preserved within Hispanic heritage.

Univision 23, TeleFutura 49, and Univision Radio’s local stations have partnered to present the 3rd Annual “Festival del Tamal” (Tamale Festival) on Sunday, November 15 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Dallas Market Hall.

The 2009 “Festival del Tamal” will be filled with entertainment, food, celebrity autograph sessions, giveaways, and the contest for the Best Tamale in Dallas Fort Worth, awarding $10,000 in cash and prizes. The festival will also include a kids-only area, with games and entertainment.

Felipe Viel from “Escandalo TV” (ShowBiz TV), Maggie Jimenez, host of “¡Que Sabor!” (Such Flavor!), Nancy Alvarez, psychologist and host of “Quien Tiene La Razón” (Who’s Right?), and former Kumbia King member Irvin “Pee Wee” Salinas will be signing autographs from noon to 2 p.m.

The main stage will have top musical performers by Latin artists such as Salinas, Mariachi America 2000, Ramon Vargas Jr., and Huehuecoyotl.

Last year’s attendance topped 15,000. The “Festival del Tamal” celebrates the family, stories, relationships, values, and mystery of a tradition that is forever preserved within Hispanic heritage.
