Hispanic soccer players invited to fourth annual tournament

The event is hosted by FC Dallas and Coors Light. Put those together, and this is a ton of fun.

— Adult Hispanic soccer leagues from around the Dallas-Fort Worth area will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes during the first two weekends of December in the Fourth Annual Copa Coors Light at Pizza Hut Park.

The 64-team single-elimination tournament is a collaborative effort between Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas and Coors Light. The tournament begins Dec. 5-6 and wraps up Dec. 11-13, with the top team earning $4,000. Teams finishing second through fourth will earn $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively.

“We want to thank all of our Hispanic league presidents in the DFW area for their collaboration, hard work, and willingness to participate in the fourth edition of the Copa Coors Light,” said Eduardo Carvacho, FC Dallas senior director of Hispanic sales and marketing. “Coors Light and FC Dallas recognize the current state of our local economy and how hard it has hit our community. For this reason we are offering this tournament free of charge to all 64 teams. Teams also will have the chance to win prize money, so it is a perfect combo during this holiday season.”

The official tournament draw is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1 at 7 p.m. at Pizza Hut Park Stadium Club.

“We’re proud to again partner with FC Dallas to present the Copa Coors Light,” said Dolores Cantrell, Coors field activation marketing manager-multicultural. “This is a great way for local soccer teams to see how they match up and while we know these teams take tremendous pride in their play on the field, the prize money certainly will provide an added incentive. Regardless of the results, the teams can toast each other afterwards with the world’s most refreshing beer.”

The following leagues have been invited to participate in the tournament: Pan American Soccer Association, Star Soccer League, Latin Soccer Club de McKinney, Metro Arlington Soccer League, Liga MISA, Liga Inter Clubes, Liga El Torneo The Colony, Liga El Torneo Allen, Liga Briceño, Dallas Soccer Association, Liga Tlapehuala, Lewisville\Carrollton Soccer League, Greenville Soccer Association, Royal Soccer, Liga Azteca Dallas, Latin Soccer de Ft. Worth, Plano Hispanic Soccer League, San Rafael Denton, South Colony Soccer League, Haltom Evolution Soccer, Lewisville Independent Soccer League, and Liga Azteca de Denton.
