Cursive -- Friday, November 27 at Hailey's

There is no question where the featured show of this Thanksgiving week is at. Hailey's club has the duty of hosting one of the biggest and most anticipated shows in Denton in a very long time. Indie Verse 105.3 HD2 presents Cursive, one of the most popular and talented groups to come out of the musical haven of Omaha, Nebraska. They have been around since the mid nineties, but their breakout album was released on Saddle Creek in 2003 entitled The Ugly Organ, which was considered a pure masterpiece by many who fell in love with the Ugly Organist's story of love and betrayal.

Since then, the band has released three albums, most recently Mama, I'm Swollen, released in March of this year.

It will be a treat to see them play live here in Denton and this show is going to be an absolute mad house, so get your tickets now! Also playing is fellow Saddle Creek group Old Canes and awesome Denton group The Timeline Post.

Slobberbone -- Friday, November 27 at Dan's Silver Leaf

Also happening Friday night, for those of you who would rather see a band with more local legend ... or maybe you just couldn't get into the Cursive show. Whatever the case may be, head out to Dan's Silver Leaf for Slobberbone. In fact, on most weekends I would say that this is the premier show you need to be at. Slobberbone is local greatness. They are pure legends of the Denton and Dallas music scenes and are a band that will always deliver.

The show at Dan's this Friday night will kick off a six show stretch that will take them all the way till the end of the year when they play another big show at the Granada in Dallas which should also be an amazing performance. I caught Slobberbone at the Granada earlier this year and it was just about what you would expect from this legendary act. Just awesome!

But you just cant beat seeing them live in a smaller venue like Dan's. This is going to be a solid show. HIGHLY recommended!

Rio Rasco -- Saturday, November 28 at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio

On Saturday night at Rubber Gloves, one of my favorite young local bands, Rio Rasco, is headlining. These guys have been doing things the right way in their relatively short time together. They have been hard at work in the rehearsal studio perfecting their sound, which has really become something to take notice of. Check out our Spotlight on the band from a few weeks ago.

Also playing at RGRS on Saturday night is Dear Human, Oh Lewis, and the outstanding The Polycorns.
