Thanksgiving at the last minute in Dallas

A few suggestions for those stragglers who still haven't made plans.

Thanksgiving is the high holy day of eating, so here's a funny surprise about Thanksgiving Eve: It, along with Halloween and Super Bowl Sunday, is one of the three biggest pizza delivery nights of the year, according to Pizza Marketplace magazine.

As for Thanksgiving day itself, everyone's talking turkey:

* Fearing's 3-course meal runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then 5 to 8 p.m.;

* La Duni is having a brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Oak Lawn branch only;

* brunch with bottomless mimosas and dinner at Nana, with a special menu for kids;

* Craft Dallas' menu includes chocolate pecan pie;

* Central 214's all-day buffet has a green bean casserole that's "naughty";

* Second Floor's menu predictably includes a "gastrique";

* lunch and dinner at Steve Fields in Plano, is a mere $23, and that includes a dinner roll;

* At Victory Tavern, the turkey comes "molasses-brined," mmm;

* all of the Cru wine bars host a feast that thoughtfully runs from 12 noon to 9 p.m.;

* Tre Amici's wines under $300 are half off;

* brunch at the Pyramid is mega-mega-mega;

* Melrose buffet has not only the classic Waldorf salad but also a dedicated children's station;

* brunch and then dinner both feature a pumpkin trio at dessert, at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.

That's a lot of turkey.

Meanwhile, a few less predictable Thanksgiving options:

* Turkey Tote. After Dragonfly's spread, which runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., guests are handed a complimentary “Turkey Tote,” filled with the requisite fixings for a post-Thanksgiving turkey sandwich.

* Tofurkey! at Thanksgiving at Kalachandji's. Tofu turkey & dressing, yellow mung dal soup, mashed potatoes & gravy, candied yams, wild rice, mustard greens, green beans, cauliflower pakoras, cornbread, whole wheat rolls, and pumpkin pie.

* Eat late in old downtown Plano. Fillmore Pub opens at 7 p.m. and across the street, Vickery Park opens at 8 p.m.

* Eat the next morning instead. Cyclone Anaya hosts a day-after "breakfast through brunch menu" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

* Postpone until December when Wolfgang Puck Catering offers its "Treat Tuesday" program of delivering meals to your [office] door, from a morning buffet, to salads and sandwiches to "salty & sweet afternoon snacks" and sweets. Email Kevin.Brant@wolfgangpuck.com or call 214-741-7825.

* Supermarkets will be open, hallelujah. The major chains -- Tom Thumb, Kroger, and Albertsons -- will be open until 4 p.m.; Whole Foods and Central Market are open until 2 p.m.
