Gospel gets a good rap in Richardson

0

For all the social heat that secular rap music has taken through the years (and in certain elements, justifiably) through questionable music videos and discomforting still images deemed inappropriate for youth, society would be well served to discover a positive side of and a different crew representing this genre.

So it was with the 4th Sunday Out Da Box program that presented several compelling gospel rap artists through the Generational Transfer Church at the Holiday Inn Select in Richardson on September 27.

Pastor Damion Jones, himself a young and fiery minister to be spiritually reckoned with, served as emcee of the evening. This special event was produced by the AVE NuStudio group.

The gospel rappers and hip-hoppers were nothing if not amazing, in their positive musical presentations and their uplifting messages of faith, hope, and charity to their youth audience. Gospel rap artists included Carama, PoK, D.O.T.M.A.N., and T.R.I.G.G.A. Dreux Lawes’ Contemporary Gospel Flava served perfectly as a balancing act through his original soul-stirring vocal compositions backed up by beautiful, angelic harmonies of a three-woman group.

Pointedly, if allowed the opportunity, be certain to experience any of these wonderful artists in concert. As such, Carama, along with a number of additional gospel singers, will be appearing on October 18, 2009 at the Plaza Arts Center in Carrollton.
