Second branch of Dallas-based Burguesa Burger to open in Irving next week
A second branch of Burguesa Burger, the Mexican-ish burger chain founded by restaura-preneurâ„¢ Jeff Sinelli, will open in Irving next week, as confirmed by a guy at the Dallas branch.
Look, here's an older photo of the Irving space, which looks like it might have been, what, a Popeye's?
This Irving branch will be followed by another branch opening in Garland later this fall.
Burgers are always a hot topic, but only In 'N Out Burger has received as much instant attention and adoring prose as the May opening of the original Burguesa on Inwood. And why not? What other burger chain has a signature item called "La Monumental" with two beef patties, cheese, slice of ham, crunchy orange tostada, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, special sauce, and jalapeno? None, that's who. What other burger chain gives you a tiny doughnut on the straw of your milk shake? None, that's who.

To which I say, "¡Gracias a dios!"

I'm sure they stole the tiny donut-on-straw idea from Pot Belly, which puts a tiny cookie on their milkshake straws.
And I'm sure they stole the burger ideas from, ohhhhh, say Mexico.
It's a very original place.
