ACS and NFL Alumni-Dallas Chapter to help raise money for college scholarships
College-age students will benefit as Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) partners with the Dallas Chapter NFL Alumni to host the 2009 Charity Golf Classic in support of the Winners for Life Foundation. The celebrity-filled tournament will be Monday, Oct. 5 at Lantana Golf Club in Argyle, Texas.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to Winners for Life Foundation, a program that provides scholarships to underprivileged but motivated teenagers who are otherwise unable to afford college. The scholarships are funded through its partnership with the ACS Philanthropic Foundation.
The Winners for Life Foundation was founded by former Green Bay Packer Donny Anderson in 2001 and is designed to inspire, encourage, and guide at-risk teenagers. The foundation began awarding scholarships in 2005 to those demonstrating a motivation to succeed but lack the financial or emotional support at home.
Since 2005, more than 200 scholarships totaling over $300,000 have been awarded to students throughout the United States.
Along with Anderson, other participating NFL stars include former Chicago Bear Joe Barnes, former Dallas Cowboy John Fitzgerald, former New York Jet Gary Hammond, former Detroit Lion and television sportscaster Pat Summerall, and former Dallas Cowboy Glen Titensor.
