At long last, the 2009 rollercoaster season is over.

The Texas Rangers closed out their season Sunday, losing 4-3 to the Mariners in Seattle. The loss left Texas at 87-75 on the season, the fourth best record in the American League.

The young Rangers overall had an impressive year, eliminated in the final week of the season from the playoffs and being near the league leaders in ERA. Any hope of postseason success was torpedoed by poor hitting and injuries to key veterans Josh Hamilton and Michael Young.

Rangers starter Scott Feldman was decent in the final outing of his pleasantly surprising year, surrendering four runs over six solid innings. Feldman finished the season at 17-8 with a 4.08 ERA.

The Rangers lineup got next to nothing off of Seattle ace and Cy Young frontrunner Felix Hernandez, amassing just four hits and one walk all game. All three of Texas' runs were the results of groundouts.
