Duncanville to officially announce Bob Knight’s Fieldhouse
City Manager Kent Cagle said representatives from the fieldhouse approached them about a possible conversion of the facility.
This was as much of a secret as telling someone the Dallas Mavericks are going to pass to Dirk Nowitzki, but it becomes official today.
The City of Duncanville announced the world’s first Bob Knight’s Fieldhouse October 6, at 11 a.m. at its City Hall Council Chambers. The Hall of Fame coach will be on hand to announce the biggest basketball/volleyball facility in this part of the Metroplex. It will have six full-size basketball courts and 10 volleyball courts. The Fieldhouse will also contain a learning center for children.
They’re promising a quick turnaround, as the facility is slated to open February 2010. The knowledge that this deal was on the table effectively ended the tumultuous tenure of the Dallas Stars in Duncanville. City leaders blame the Stars for not promoting the Dr Pepper StarCenter facility, which was a much-touted component of the city’s “Main Street Vision.”
City Manager Kent Cagle said representatives from the fieldhouse approached them about a possible conversion of the facility. Despite eleventh hour efforts by parents and their young hockey players, the city opted to end its partnership with the Dallas Stars.
