FC Dallas won 2-1 against San Jose Earthquakes on Oct. 7 at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. With the win, FC Dallas improves to 10-12-6 (36 pts.) and currently sits in sixth place in the Western Conference, two points out of the last playoff spot.

FC Dallas is currently on a three-game winning streak, a season high for the team.

FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman on the game: “Both teams were evenly matched tonight. San Jose has been on a good run and I think they would have liked to finish their home season off on a good note. We came in and played our best and the goals we scored were good goals. Overall, it was a hard fought game on both sides but we’re happy to take the three points.”

Other notes:

* Dallas is now 19-14-7 all time against the San Jose Earthquakes. The win beats the Earthquakes MLS four-game unbeaten streak tonight.

* David Ferreira’s goal in the 49th minutes was his eighth of the season. Ferreira remains the second leading goal scorer on the team after Jeff Cunningham.

* Cunningham earned his eighth assist of the season when he received a short ball outside the 18-yard box from defender Heath Pearce and then one-touched it through to Ferreira.

* Pearce earned the secondary assist on Ferreira's goal, his first MLS career assist.

* Cunningham’s career-high 17th goal of the season and 121st of his career extends his current streak of consecutive games with a goal to a League best six games.

* Cunningham leads the League this season with seven game-winning goals and is the MLS all-time leader with 36 for his career.

* Cunningham is currently in sole possession of first place in the race for the Budweiser Golden Boot.

* Dax McCarty earned his fifth assist of the season after he received a through ball from Ferreira before passing it off to Cunningham on the left side. Ferreira earned the secondary assist, his seventh of the season.

* Brek Shea entered tonight’s match in the 87th minute for Jeff Cunningham after returning from Egypt on Monday. Shea and three other Dallas players were with the U.S. U-20 team playing in the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament the last three weeks.

* Midfielders Atiba Harris and Andre Rocha missed tonight’s game due to card suspensions.

* Two FCD players have now started all 28 regular season games: David Ferreira and Dave van den Bergh.

FC Dallas will return to Pizza Hut Park for the final home game of the 2009 regular season when they face Western Conference rivals the Colorado Rapids at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. It will air live on KFWD-52.
