Rowlett hosts meeting about progress of Bush Turnpike Eastern Extension

0

— Thursday, October 8, at 7 p.m., there'll be a project meeting on the progress of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) Eastern Extension construction held inside the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 4000 Main Street in Rowlett.

The meeting will open with a greeting from Rowlett Mayor John Harper, followed by a presentation on the project progress from Elizabeth Mow, NTTA project delivery director, and Pat Ellis, Eastern Extension project manager. Rowlett Public Works Director Pat Baugh will then make a brief presentation on how the construction affects city projects and traffic.

The meeting will then open up into a question and answer venue to give citizens ask specific questions about the project. There will be an opportunity to view progress photos, maps, and diagrams pertaining to the project.

“Throughout this three-year project, we want to keep residents well-informed about the progress of the construction. With the first year of construction behind us, we are taking this opportunity to continue to keep citizens informed on what’s in store for the next two years,” said Harper. “Although it will take approximately three years to complete, it will bring immeasurable future growth to Rowlett.”

The PGBT Eastern Extension is an approximately $1 billion, 9.9-mile, six-lane toll road extension that will stretch from SH 78 in Garland, where the PGBT now ends, to Interstate Highway 30 in Dallas, traversing through Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, and across Lake Ray Hubbard. All sections of the project are scheduled to be open to traffic in late 2011. The Texas Department of Transportation is constructing the bridge across Lake Ray Hubbard and the IH-30 interchange, just west of Bass Pro Drive.
