Remembering Texas music legend Rusty Wier
Texas troubadour, Rusty Wier, best known for his hit song "Don't It Make You Wanna Dance" passed away on October 9. Friends and fans across the country remember his expansive career that included a Double Platinum Record and tours with Ray Charles, Charlie Daniels, Lynrd Skynrd, the Allman Brothers, Doug Kershaw, and Willie Nelson.
Rusty signed his first contract with ABC Records and later recorded with both 20th Century and Columbia Records, producing more than a dozen albums during the course of his career. He also appeared at Austin City Limits on three different occasions, delivering his unique brand of what Margaret Moser labeled “Rusticana.”
Memorial services are yet to be announced. In the meantime, Cindy Chaffin recollects Rusty's final interview with Buddy Magazine.

A profound passing of a most proficient Texas performer. Rusty was indeed the world's greatest Saloon Entertainer. His many performances at Poor David's were always pure entertainment from start to finish. If you stayed for the first song, you were usually there for the last.
Peace,
pd

It's soo hard to get a grip on the new's that he is really gone. You think you have the time to go and see him again, but it has slipt away from you.I met Rusty and his son's and Debbie and Gino's Bar and Grill in South Austin. I served him many of Jose's before he would start a new song and end a song.I learned what going fishing meant to him. How he touched my heart with the love I have for my husband in the song's he sang. I'll never forget you and the passion that comes in you for life and love. You will always be singing in my heart, love Lisa
