I-35E traffic to move onto new concrete Oct. 13
ELLIS COUNTY Two southbound lanes of traffic on I-35E just south of Waxahachie will be channeled onto new concrete where the highway mainlanes are being rebuilt just south of FM 329 to north of Johnston Road.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, southbound traffic will be moved into a detour onto the new concrete pavement and remain in the detour mode to facilitate the northbound traffic switch in a few weeks. The second traffic switch will detour northbound traffic to allow construction of ramps and bridges, and completion of paving on the northbound side of the highway. Tuesday’s operation is expected to be complete by 5 p.m.
This operation is part of a $62.3 million project to rehabilitate I-35E. W. W. Webber, LLC is the contractor on the project.
Portable message boards have been in place advising motorists of the traffic switch. Detour signs and local law enforcement officers also will be in place to guide traffic through the area during the switch. All work is weather permitting.
