Avi Adelman to sit in dunking booth at Taste of Greenville Avenue on Oct. 24

Dunking booth event to be called Who Wet the Dog Out.

— Lower Greenville neighborhood activist Avi S. Adelman, aka The Barking Dog, will be the featured "dunkee" in the Taste of Greenville Avenue dunking booth.

According to Adelman, "I was in a meeting with the restaurant owners talking about the TOGA event. I excused myself to go to take a phone call, and come back to find out they voted to put me in the dunking booth. I am telling you, I get no respect from these guys."

The dunking booth event will be called Who Wet the Dog Out for obvious reasons.

Adelman will be in the dunking booth after lunch. "It better be warm by 1 p.m., or we may have to set a fire under the tank."

The competition to take a shot at Adelman will be fierce. Dallas City Council Member Angela Hunt, who will open the event at 10:45 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, has already reserved the first round of baseball throws. She will be followed by former baseball coach and now owner of the San Francisco Rose Jim Bradberry. After that, you can line up for five throws for $5.

Adelman expects this event to be a big money maker for the Greenville Avenue Restaurant Association's community support program. "I bet Gregg Merkow [Hurricane Bar and Grill], who is managing the beverage center, that I will make more money in one hour in the dunking booth than he will selling beverages. I am absolutely not worried about losing -- I know how popular I am."

The line for the chance to throw baseballs (or anything else, for that matter) is expected to be long. There have been unconfirmed rumors about an internal email circulating at Dallas City Hall, starting with the line, "If you have ever wanted to take a shot at the Barking Dog, here's your chance..." Adelman expects to stay in the booth for about an hour, "... Or until everything gets really wrinkled."

Adelman vehemently denies he will wear a Borat-style Speedo in the booth. "I can't risk getting arrested for indecent exposure -- I already have enough citations to worry about."

Adelman is looking for any reason to get out of this assignment. "The folks at National Sports Lounge across the street are hosting a dunking booth on the same day -- but theirs will be heated and have prettier women. If I had a choice, where do you think I want to be?"

If you want to volunteer for some of your own dunking time, send an email to Greg@GARADallas.com.

Awesome. I will definitely be there. I hope the tank has piranha's. They should also set up a booth for Angela Hunt.

The two most hated people in Dallas.
