Collin College dance department to offer free dance seminars and classes
The Dance Department at Collin College will offer free dance classes and seminars to the public in October and November. These seminars are offered throughout the semester and feature the Collin College Dance faculty, as well as visiting artists from across Dallas-Fort Worth and state.
Open studio classes will include modern dance, jazz, ballet, and hip hop. According to Tiffany Arnold, professor and chair of Dance at Collin College, “Open Studio Classes means we are literally opening the doors of the studios during a class time for people to come in and take and/or observe class, and the students registered for the course are encouraged to bring friends to class that day.”
The Dance Department will also offer seminars on topics such as Pilates, lyrical jazz, and hip hop, as well as, modern dance and ballet. These seminars will be led by various industry professionals such as Jhon Stronks, artistic director of “there...in the sunlight,” based in Houston. Stronks will also provide master classes leading up to the Dance Fusion concert at Collin College on Nov. 13 and 14 in the John Anthony Theatre on the Spring Creek Campus.
Community members, dancers, and non-dancers are encouraged to take part in these master classes, seminars, and open studio classes, either as participants or observers. This is an opportunity to meet area dance professionals, work with award-winning dancers, and learn about the art of dance. For a complete list of events, visit the Collin Dance Department Website at www.ccccd.edu/dance or call Tiffany Arnold, chair of dance at 972-881-5830.
