Forney area citizens encouraged by TxDOT to attend public hearing
FORNEY The City of Forney, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will host a public hearing to discuss proposed roadway improvements to FM 740 from Ranch Road to US 80 in Forney.
The hearing will be on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at the Katherine Wolfe Criswell Elementary. An open house will begin at 6 p.m. to allow city staff, design consultants, and TxDOT staff answer questions and display exhibits of the proposed project. The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. following the open house.
The existing FM 740 is a two-lane rural undivided roadway consisting of two travel lanes (one in each direction) with a pavement width varying from 18 to 22 feet. The proposed project consists of reconstructing FM 740 into a four-lane curb and gutter, urban roadway. The lanes would be 11 feet wide. Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or commercial displacements are anticipated from the proposed project.
Written and verbal comments from the public regarding this project may be presented at the hearing or delivered through Oct. 26, 2009. Written comments may also be submitted to Nikki Loya, Civil Associates, Inc., 1521 Northwest Highway, Garland, TX 75041.
