Dallas Public Library to hold Teen Blowout on October 24
Teens will display their talents, play their favorite video games, create art and meet new friends at the Dallas Public Library's annual Teen Blowout to be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 1 to 5 p.m. at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in the first floor concourse area.
The event will offer a fun and interactive atmosphere for teens, with free video games (Wii and PlayStation2), crafts, a teen book talk and book club workshop, plus a youth Open Mic Poetry Slam hosted by National Poetry Slam artist Mike Guinn. Snacks and giveaways will be provided.
“We want to attract teens to the library with innovative programs and events so that they will take advantage of the many resources we have to offer,” said Dallas Public Library Assistant Director Miriam Rodriguez.
Teen Centers operate throughout the year at all 25 Dallas Public Library branches to provide positive activities for young people. Each Center includes dedicated space for teens, including laptop computers for online homework and career assistance as well as special workshops and programs.
The Dallas Public Library operates the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 25 branch locations, Bookmarks in NorthPark Center and two Bookmobiles. A library card is free for any Dallas resident.
