Eating and drinking events in Dallas-Fort Worth October 14-20

1

Two beer events, one Scotch event, couple of wine events -- great week for drinkin'.

The week's top picks:

Thursday

Beer Dinner

Not just any beer but beer from the well-respected Brooklyn Brewery, whose brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, author of The Brewmaster's Table, will host and pontificate. Smoked salmon on sourdough baguettes, ginger-soy chicken kabobs clam chowder, calamari, beef tenderloin, and Pumpkin Ale cheesecake paired with Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout? Uh huh.

Texas Wine Walk and Cheese Pairing

Swirll celebrates Texas Wine Month with a tasting of 12 Texas wines and Texas cheeses. RSVP requested.

Saturday

Fall Beer Festival

Parking lot party! At the Flying Saucer in Sundance Square with five beer tents, featuring rare special releases and a limited-edition cask-conditioned ale, including Brooklyn Chocolate Stout and a rare brew from Sierra Nevada, Edge of Darkness, offered in a very limited supply.

Monday

Scotch Club

Five great single malts paired with food, on Sevy's patio, no less.

Tuesday

Castello di Volpaia Wine Dinner

Famous Tuscan winery plus Super Tuscans Balifico and Coltassala, with antipasti, Foie Gras on toast, veal osso bucco, scalloped potatoes, Florentine peas, and Tuscan desserts. Wines: Chianti Classico / Chianti Classico Reserve / Prelius Vermintino / Prelius Morello / Balifico / Coltassala / Vin Santo.

Soba Making Class

“Shin Soba” or “fresh soba,” made with flour from newly harvested buckwheat, is a rare treat, available only twice a year, and highly prized by the Japanese for its certain aroma and sweetness. You can order Shin Soba hot or cold from the menu after the demonstration.
