Plano Christian Academy student spends summer at Cambridge
One of Plano’s smallest Christian schools, Plano Christian Academy, produced big results this year as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2009, Alarah Littlejohn, was invited to attend the University of Cambridge, England. As part of the summer scholars programme, Littlejohn was chosen from among the top high school students in the country to study under the university’s renown British lectures.
With over 60 courses to choose from, Littlejohn chose to study Shakespeare at the Globe Theater, archeology at Stonehenge, and British cultural history at Ely Cathedral, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, the Tower of London, and many other sites and museums in London. In the evenings, Littlejohn joined other Cambridge scholars as they participated in a variety of traditional British activities including punting on the River Cam, viewing plays in London’s West End, and touring the National Stud Farm. At the close of the three week programme, students attended the James Bond Ball in Crypt’s Court at Queen’s College.
In addition to Littlejohn, Plano Christian Academy sent its 2009 graduates to UCLA, UTD, Houston Baptist University, and California Baptist University, among others. PCA is a K-12 school built on a classical, Christian curriculum that shares the same campus as First Christian Church at 1501 H Avenue in old, downtown Plano.
Littlejohn is the daughter of Lorna Littlejohn of Plano. She will be attending a small, liberal arts college in the Midwest on an academic scholarship and hopes to attain a bachelor of science degree in Equestrian Studies.
