Mini-EP review: Ronnie Fauss’ I Can’t Make You Happy

0

Ronnie Fauss (Official site / MySpace), from right here in Dallas, has just released a few more songs. Many other blogs, including myself, really liked Fauss’s EP, New Songs For the Old Frontier – Vol I. While he hasn’t busted out with Vol. II just yet, Fauss has released a “mini-EP” on iTunes and it is just as good, if only a little shorter.

I Can’t Make You Happy contains three tracks that have the same pleasing, rootsy, folk-rock vibe and melodious tone that highlight the previous release. The title track is my favorite from the group, as it would fit just beautifully (and sadly) into that previous release, as a companion piece to “The Saddest Love that’s Ever Been Made,” which opens the first EP. The following song, “One Eye Open,” picks up the pace a bit from the title track and displays a playful, but threatening boot-stompin’ tune. As for the last track, well, you’ll just have to dig deeper into this talented man’s work for that …
