My Denton Music spotlight: The Raven Charter
In September, I proclaimed that this band was one of the most entertaining bands in Denton. In fact I am not so sure that they are THE most entertaining in this town, but what I love the most about The Raven Charter is their refusal to pull any punches during their live shows. They are an over-the-top affair, complete with fog machines, black lights, lasers, and glow sticks.
They are a ton of fun and should be viewed as such. Now, their lyrics won't have you contemplating the meaning of life or anything like that, but they will have you up out of your seat, and rocking out hard. I am a bit troubled by some of the negative things written about this band recently, but I guess I can understand the point of it, even if it is misguided. The Raven Charter puts on a show in the truest sense. It is an amazing thing to watch, and a treat to listen to, that is the bottom line. If you go to a Raven Charter show, or ANY show for that matter, expecting to see the next most important band in the world, you are going to be disappointed. But if you walk into the bar with a light heart, ready to have some fun, then you will have a great time watching The Raven Charter.
On Friday, the band takes the stage at The Boiler Room for the first time in about of month. It is going to be a packed house, again, and it should be a great show ... again. If you have yet to see this band, please check them out this week. I am sure you will not be disappointed. Also playing is Bronze Whaler, Moving Atlas, and Project H.
