Audio: Mandrake Society Radio interviews Jesse Garcia, President of LULAC 4871

3

Today, I’m speaking with Jesse Garcia about the beginning of LULAC 4871 (also called “The Dallas Rainbow Chapter”), building bridges between the Dallas Latino and LGBT communities, and how immigration reform affect many more LGBT people than we may realize (and not just Latino people). Find out more at lulac4871.org.

Our interview was recorded at Spiral Diner in Oak Cliff. Late in the interview, you’ll hear what must’ve have been the effects of the cook being overcaffeinated as he rings the kitchen bell like he’s lost his mind.

Why is Lulac 4871 called the Dallas "RAINBOW" Chapter? And why is it always in Oak Cliff? What does LGBT stand for?

JW Richard says:

Jesse says in the podcast interview that it's currently referred as the "Rainbow" because its membership comprised of openly lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ( or LGBT) people AND heterosexual community allies. As far as Oak Cliff..well, that's just where the good stuff is at!
