Eating and drinking events in Dallas-Fort Worth October 22-28
See all Food and Wine events
A Robert Mondavi wine dinner comes in at the high end, while on the opposite side is the much anticipated dunking booth at the Taste of Greenville Avenue. Choose your poison.
The week's top picks:
Thursday
Grand Opening of Norma's Cafe on Trinity Mills
Who isn't happy to see a new restaurant open, but especially one with pies as good as Norma's. In fact, there'll be a pie-eating contest you can watch at 6 p.m.
Revana Family Vineyards Wine Dinner
Houston cardiologist Dr. Madaiah Revana, owner of Revana Family Vineyards, has gained status with his Cabernet Sauvignon as among the best in Napa.
Friday
Bless Calais Winery in Deep Ellum, for who doesn't like finding out about good wines that are reasonably priced? Nobody, that's who.
Tribute to Robert Mondavi Wine Dinner
For its last wine dinner of the year (sniff!), Pappas Bros. Steakhouse celebrates the life and work of the late, great Robert Mondavi with a four-course dinner orchestrated by executive chefs James Johnson and Michael Gaspard, and master sommelier Barbara Werley. The wine dinner of all wine dinners.
Saturday
Nevermind the tastes from Blue Fish, Daddy Jack's, Dodie's, Nandina's, Ozona -- even Parkit Market is participating -- but no, nevermind all those. The piece de resistance at this all-day affair will be the opportunity to dunk the inimitable Barking Dog.
Tuesday
Newton Vineyard wine ambassador and spokesperson Ellen Flora will attend this four-course meal at Craft Dallas, part of the dinner club series hosted by news radio station KRLD.
