“Truckin’ For a Cure” tie-in with Trucker movie convoys to Carl’s Corner this Saturday
Well, this is kind of complicated and long-winded, but it's for a great cause so I'll see if I can distill it down somewhat. It breaks down into two separate-but-related ... um ... things:
* 1st Annual Convoy For A Cure - USA, under the heading of which over 200 truckers from around the country will decorate their big rigs and participate in a convoy, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and wrapping at noon, at Willie Nelson’s “Willie’s Place” in Carl’s Corner, Texas, in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
* If you buy a movie ticket to the movie Trucker at the Angelika Dallas on Sunday, the Angelika folks will donate a percentage of the ticket price to Convoy For A Cure - USA. Oh -- and if you show the theater staff the postcard you picked up while at the Saturday event, they'll give you a free small popcorn. (Not exactly a "sound the trumpets" kind of offer, but -- hey -- it's both free and salty.)
The Saturday whingding at Willie's Place includes entertainment from Johnny Bush and Leland Martin & Uncle R, as well as raffles, health screenings, and activities for the kids. Lunch will be provided by Eddie Deen’s Ranch. Tickets for the event are $50; a lunch only ticket is just $5.
