Railroad Park to open Monday in Lewisville
Railroad Park will open to the public on Monday, with a formal ribbon-cutting celebration planned for November 5. The park is located on the east side of Railroad Street between FM 3040 (Hebron Parkway) and Business 121, with a main entrance at the intersection of Railroad Street and Bennett Lane. All park facilities will open at once, although a few soccer games are scheduled for the two preceding weekends in order to test the turf.
When Railroad Park opens, it will feature 250 acres of top-quality recreational facilities including eight soccer fields, four football fields, four baseball fields, three concession stands with restrooms, a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs, one of the largest public skateparks in North Texas, walking paths, and three manmade lakes.
The park is the largest capital project in the history of the city and is being paid for through a quarter-cent 4B sales tax approved by Lewisville voters in 2002.
