TxDOT issues emergency contract to repair SH 5 bridge beginning Monday
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) issued a $149,900 emergency bridge repair contract to Iowa Bridge and Culvert. Contractor crews will begin Monday, repairing the SH 5 bridge located at the East Fork Trinity River, and are expected to complete the repairs by December 1.
Drivers will recall the SH 5 bridge was closed when one of the bridge columns was damaged by flooding following heavy rains on October 23. TxDOT bridge inspectors quickly assessed the bridge and subsequently closed the roadway until repairs could be made. Detours and signs are in place to direct traffic during the closure.
