State gives funding for Collin County and Rockwall airports
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has approved finding for two local airports. The state agency plans to award about $60 million for "planning, constructing, and maintaining community airports." About 275 airports in Texas were eligible.
Both contracts will be given during the fall of 2009, funded through the Aviation Facilities Grant Program.
Collin County Regional Airport
* Approximately $14 million for Collin County Regional Airport was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission at its August meeting.
* The funds will be used for planned airport improvements, which includes pavement improvements.
Rockwall Municipal Airport
* Approximately $106,000 for Rockwall Municipal Airport was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission at its August meeting.
* The funds will be used for planned airport improvements, which includes installation of automated weather observation system.
