Kids and family events in Dallas-Fort Worth, September 3-9

0

Only two weeks into school and already a holiday? You gotta love Labor Day.

And in honor of Labor Day, you can go to the 2009 Bedford Labor Day Blues & BBQ Festival at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hurst-Euless-Bedford on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6. Besides being a convenient location should the BBQ not agree with you, you'll be able to see such musical acts as the Joe Jonas Band (no, not that Joe Jonas), Dave Millsap, and Big Smoo and the Trailer Park Kings.

All weekend long, Loyd Park in Grand Prairie will host The Ultimate Outdoor Experience, an event designed to feature a variety of displays and exhibits including RVs, boats, motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft, cars, and trucks. To help with your viewing pleasure, the following acts will be performing: on Saturday, Tommy Alverson, The King Bucks, and the Whiskey Folk Ramblers; on Sunday, Double Ace and Hard Night's Day; and on Monday, The Tejas Brothers and The O's (The Tejas Brothers are also playing in Bedford, so they're a busy band).

Not to be left out of the Labor Day fun, on Sunday, September 6, Plano's The Shops at Legacy will celebrate the opening of their North Phase II with the Labor Day at Legacy Street Festival. You'll get your food tasting, face painting, and live band playing, not to mention appearances by gold medal-winning gymnast Nastia Liukin and Dallas Cowboy Jay Ratliff.

Finally, also on Sunday will be the WRR Picnic in the Park at the Dallas Arboretum. The Dallas Wind Symphony will be playing a variety of fan favorites, which will be followed by a screening of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
