All six 2009 Mustang home football games will be televised by Metro Sports, SMU announced today. The games will be available to Time Warner Cable subscribers in Dallas, Waco, Temple, Killeen, Round Rock, Austin, San Antonio, Kerrville, and Corpus Christi.

The games will air live on TWC's Texas Channel in Waco, Temple, Killeen, Round Rock, Austin, San Antonio, Kerrville, and Corpus Christi. In Dallas, the games will be tape delayed until 8 p.m. on Mondays on Metro Sports Channel 185. Games will also be available on Metro Sports Video-On-Demand on Channel 634.

"We are thrilled to be able to reach our fans in these Texas markets," said SMU Director of Athletics Steve Orsini. "This 'Mustang Network' will provide us great exposure throughout the state. We're happy that our fans in other markets will be able to follow and cheer on our program."

These six games are in addition to the two that have already been slated for national television broadcasts. The annual State Farm DFW Duel - Battle for the Iron Skillet game against TCU will be televised on The Mtn. with a 7 p.m. kickoff on Oct. 3, and the Mustangs' game with C-USA Western Division rival Houston will be aired on CBS College Sports on Oct. 24, starting at 6:30 p.m.

All SMU football games are also available on the Mustang Radio Network, which includes the flagship KTCK 1310 AM in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and through Mustang All-Access at SMUMustangs.com.

Other news

* SMU will honor the 1989 football squad at halftime of the season opener on Saturday, Sept. 5th. The '89 squad reestablished SMU football following a two-year hiatus, and the team's first victory, a last-second 31-30 win over Connecticut, was quickly dubbed the "Miracle on Mockingbird."

* The SMU football team selected three team captains for the 2009 season on Sunday, Aug. 30. On the offensive side of the ball, Kelvin Beachum and Emmanuel Sanders were selected, while Chase Kennemer was chosen by the defense.

Beachum, a sophomore from Mexia, was named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football's All-Texas Team this preseason. Beachum started all 12 games at left tackle in 2009, blocking for an offense that threw for a school-record-tying 29 TDs and ranked 17th in the nation in passing offense.

Kennemer, a senior linebacker from Arlington, played in all 12 games and started twice in 2009. He played mostly on special teams until the UTEP game, when he started and broke out with 11 tackles and blocked a punt.

Sanders, a preseason first-team All-Conference USA performer by the league's 12 head coaches, begins his senior season as SMU's career leader in TD catches (27). In 2008, he earned second-team All-C-USA accolades after catching 67 passes for 958 yards and nine TDs in 10 games. Sanders finished 11th in the nation at 95.8 receiving yards per game set a new SMU season record with six 100-yard games.
