The Cube Creative in Dallas holding an Art Bike competition for Cyclesomatic
On October 10, 2009, The Cube Creative is sponsoring an Art Bike & Ride from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of the celebrated Tyler Street Block Party during the 10-day "Cyclesomatci" series of events.
Artists are encouraged to decorate, paint, weld, wire, wrap, glue, or fabricate entirely new pedaled creations. The only requirement is that it’s ride-able and is not a hazard to passers-by. The Cube Creative will announce the winners from a panel of judges. Judges are KERA's Art + Seek Director Anne Bothwell; photographer and mixed media artist Erica Fellicella; and Marla Bane, senior VP & chief administrative officer for Reach Media, Inc., a Dallas-based media and entertainment company.
First, second and third-place winners will receive a hand-made trophies by artists Kevin Obregon and Vanessa Neil, co-owners and artists of The Cube Creative. Winners will be announced and awarded their trophies during the Tyler Street Block Party, around 8:30 p.m. Artists are asked to be at the gallery on October 10, no later than 3 p.m. for registration and meet & greet. Artists should be prepared to ride their bikes for about 10 blocks and be back at the gallery by 7 p.m. for a pass and review by the judges shortly thereafter. Artists must sign a liability waiver before they participate in the ride. You are not required to ride or compete, you can just bring an art bike if you so choose!
Food, drinks and other festivities including live music and bike competitions will be at the block party, which begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m..
Please RSVP your participation (or questions) via email to Kevin Obregon or Vanessa Neil at thecubecreative@me.com. For more info on other Cyclesomatic events, check out www.cyclesomatic.us. For a look at The Cube Creative, check out www.TheCubeCreative.com.
