Kettle Art Gallery in Dallas to host open juried art show

Interested artists should submit a CD with up to five available images sized no longer than 1000 pixels in any direction.

Kettle Art Gallery announces a juried art show open to all emerging artists in the Dallas area. The purpose is to give constructive feedback on submitted portfolios and present to the community a body of work by various artists that's representative of the emerging Dallas art scene in 2009. The theme is open and all media will be considered.

Interested artists should submit a CD with up to five available images sized no longer than 1000 pixels in any direction. Artists should also submit a brief bio and artist statement about his/her work and fill out the attached application by Friday, October 16 at 5 p.m. An application fee of $10 is required to submit. Application proceeds go towards the production of the reception. Artwork must be available for sale and there is a 50/50 split with Kettle on sold artwork. Mail or deliver to Kettle Art Gallery, located at 2714 Main Street in Deep Ellum. Send a SASE if you want these materials returned.

Artists will be notified of their acceptance by Friday, October 23 and works must be delivered wired and ready for installation by Friday, October 30 at 5 p.m. A reception will be held on November 7.

The jury for this exhibit is:

Anne Bothwell: director, KERA's Art & Seek

Jason Janik: photographer

Sarah Jane Semrad: executive director, La Reunion TX and president, Art Conspiracy

Lucia Simek: co-founder and critic with Dallas' newest arts and culture blog, Renegade Bus

Each artist should expect to receive a series of constructive comments from the jurors about their work. The jury will deem a set of artists as 'Best in Show' and those artists will be acknowledged at the reception on November 7.

Deep Elm is the home of art galleries now, when it was the home of book's back in the 1950's...have fun folks and if you see Travis, ask him for a original..in Abstract Action...A/T,..Dallas Art Historian...
