State Fair documentary to play as part of DART Green Line grand opening celebration on Saturday Sept. 12
In celebration of the opening of four new stations along the Dallas Area Rapid Transit's new Green Line next Saturday (Sept. 12), passengers previewing the new route (which officially begins full-schedule service on Sept. 14) can take in a free movie at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
A Fair To Remember, directed and produced by Allen Mondell and Cynthia Salzman Mondell, will play hourly at the venue during the hours of Green Line service that day: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
You might recall that A Fair To Remember was an official selection of the AFI Dallas Film Festival in its inaugural year (2007), and was chosen by the U.S. State Dept. to be a part of its globe-trotting 2009 American Documentary Showcase tour. A viewing of this award-winning documentary would provide a great opportunity to get psyched up about all things State Fair related, such as fried food eating, Big Tex gawking, and roller coaster riding. (Not to mention the auto show. VROOM, VROOM!)
ALSO: there'll be special events going on at each of the four new stations opening along the Green Line, including:
* MLK, Jr. Station, J.B. Jackson Jr. Blvd. and Trunk Ave.: a "community-oriented event for the entire family," says DART.
* Fair Park Station, Parry and Exposition: "four hours of Fair Park fun."
* Baylor University Medical Center Station, Hall and Junius: "health and fitness fair with screenings, demonstrations and much more."
* Deep Ellum Station, Good-Latimer and Gaston: "celebrate the colorful art, music and history of Deep Ellum."
Riders may transfer to the Green Line from Pearl Street, Akard, or the new Victory Station.

dav, if you mean the Downtown Plano station, it will take like 50 minutes to get to the Fair. All you need to do is buy a Local All Day Pass at the kiosk for $4.
