Upcoming Denton concerts - September 10-12
The Color Of May - Thursday, September 10 at The Boiler Room
This Denton quartet is built by twin brothers John and Matt Spivey (who have played in various bands since 1997) along with seasoned musicians Ryan Hanifin and Hailey Wynn. Together, The Color of May has been building a name for themselves, sharing the stage with acts like The Burden Brothers, Flickerstick, Automatic Loveletter, and A Cursive Memory.
In 2009 the band released Recovery, recorded in eight days with the help of Grammy-nominated producer Alex Gerst at Indian Trails Studios. There Gerst helped craft the sounds of such bands as Ivoryline, The Feds, and The Vehicle Reason.
The Killhawks - Saturday, September 12 at The Boiler Room
This is Texas rock at its finest. Its nasty, raw, dirty finest. Since their inception, The Killhawks have been touring the bar scene of the Dallas-Fort Worth and Denton area, showing their audiences exactly how to do southern rock music.
While they straddle the line between country and rock, the band has become one of the most sure bets in the pub scene.
Chairlift - Saturday, September 12 at Hailey's
I went to go check these guys out back in March down in Dallas. And I almost actually got a chance to see them play. After about an hour and a half wait, I decided to split before the band got on stage. Apparently they were stuck in a traffic jam on their way back from SXSW in Austin and I am not even sure if they ever made it to the venue.
No worries though. They will be making their way to Denton this Saturday night and I will get my second chance to catch their live performance, something that I am told I am told is VERY worth seeing. And who could forget this gem made famous by the greatness of iPod commercials?
