Richland College to present Rebecca Coffey exhibit
Richland College presents an exhibit of the artwork of Rebecca Coffey through Oct. 15 in the Lago Vista Gallery. The artist will give an opening reception and gallery talk from 12-1 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Coffey’s art utilizes fabric, free-hand stitching and found media to create works populated with pin-up girls, geishas and other iconic imagery. Coffey says her works speak of her “dedication to recycling, altering, and revocating objects” and that her greatest goal is to “spread the concept of earth-friendly creativity.”
A San Antonio artist, Coffey has shown in several galleries and is currently the artist in residence at High Wire Gallery and Studios. She has her own gallery and studio connected to The Overtime Theater for which she is art director. Her works have also been published and appear in several magazines.
The Lago Vista Gallery’s hours are 9 a.m.- 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Friday, and 12-4 p.m. on Saturday.
